HR and Payroll Specialist

We are looking for a HR and Payroll Specialist who supports comprehensive people operations across human resources, payroll, benefits, and talent acquisition. This role focuses on employee relations, policy implementation, compliance management, payroll and benefits administration, training support, and recruitment coordination. You will work closely with business leaders and cross‑functional teams to ensure compliant, efficient, and employee‑focused HR operations.


What is your mission? 

You will provide the best service to our partner brands by performing these tasks:

  • Support and back up the Human Resources Manager in daily operations and people initiatives
  • Facilitate and communicate organizational policies, procedures, and programs to ensure consistent application
  • Implement new hire orientation, employee recognition initiatives, and engagement programs
  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and department leaders to align people processes with business needs
  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non‑mandatory training, licensure, and certifications
  • Handle employment‑related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors while escalating sensitive matters appropriately
  • Participate in employee disciplinary actions, investigations, and terminations
  • Assist in developing and delivering employee and manager training programs
  • Conduct and oversee background checks and employment eligibility verifications
  • Evaluate and manage external vendors supporting human resources services
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and recommended best practices
  • Track and maintain labor law postings and employee acknowledgements
  • Process and oversee semi‑monthly multi‑state payroll, including journal entries, reconciliations, reimbursements, contractor payments, HSA, and 401(k) contributions
  • Coordinate and administer employee benefits, including enrollment, reconciliations, invoicing, and compliance reporting
  • Manage employee leave administration, including FMLA, ADA, and disability considerations
  • Recruit, interview, and support hiring activities for non‑manager roles
  • Assist with workforce planning, succession support, and retention initiatives
  • Stay current on human resources trends, employment law updates, and people technologies


Who are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources Generalist experience, including 3+ years managing multi‑state United States payroll
  • Hands‑on experience supporting end‑to‑end Human Resources operations, including employee relations, compliance, training, and talent acquisition
  • Demonstrated exposure to regulated industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, or nutraceutical environments
  • Proven experience collaborating with Finance, Operations, leadership teams, vendors, and regulatory bodies
  • Strong expertise in multi‑state payroll administration, audits, reconciliations, taxes, and compliance
  • 1+ year of hands‑on experience using Paycom, with proficiency in HRIS and payroll systems
  • Advanced knowledge of United States labor laws, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, and wage and hour regulations
  • Hands‑on experience managing benefits administration, including ACA reporting, 401(k), HSA, leave management, and insurance reconciliations
  • Demonstrated experience supporting audits, including retirement accounts, benefit eligibility, workers’ compensation, and work authorization
  • SHRM‑CP or PHR certification
  • Ability to meet background check and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Strong English communication skills, written and verbal, with a professional employee‑facing approach
  • Highly organized capability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Sound judgment, confidentiality, and ethical decision‑making when handling sensitive information
  • Collaborative and independent work style with adaptability in a fast‑paced, compliance‑driven environment
